Insight:
In the country, more than 35 million citizens do not earn enough to cover basic needs. Over 15 million people rely on credit from local shops.
This community - based lending system, which offers small - scale loans for short - terms without collateral, has become the primary financial aid for many low - income individuals who lack bank support.
However, these small shops have limited capacity to lend, so a broader system is needed to extend this lending practice nationwide.
SoulFrame Media, aiming for financial inclusivity, created “The Community Lending Hub,” an online platform where citizens can borrow money like in local shops: without bank accounts, without guarantors, and with only one requirement: trust.
Impact:
The Community Lending Hub has 40 partner lenders in 15 locations in the country. More than 7,000 unbanked families have benefited from the platform, and 55,000 essential items have been provided to 7,000 beneficiary families.
To date, the platform has 5,500 active users who have repaid on time and continue to request loans.
